It’s very tough to find a person who doesn’t love to see the sky change its colours and when you are in New York City you will never find a single soul who will disagree with the beauty of Sunset in NYC. During the sunset you can experience the truly magical view of the City Skyline and this will be the bestest sunset view you will ever witness in your life. 

There are so many spots in New York you can enjoy the dream sunset view and in this article I am going to talk about all those best places I have visited for sunset.

1. PIER 35:

Pier 35 is the newest addition in New York city attractions with 4 Giant wooden swings hanging together. This is a waterfront oasis from where you can see the Brooklyn Bridge and Manhattan bridge together. It becomes the most romantic place in the city during the sunset. Watching the sun going down over two most famous bridges in the world is unforgettable.

2. Battery Park:

Battery park is located at the lower side of Manhattan Island and one of the best places for locals and tourists to visit. This park is rich with historic monuments and art installations and provides the view of the National Monument “Statue Of Liberty” and Ellis Island. Because of the views of these two places, experiencing sunset from Battery Park is on another level. It gets very crowded during the sunset hours. If I visit Lower Manhattan in the evening I always try to stay there in Battery Park until the Sunset.

3. Domino Park:

Domino park is located in Williamsburg right under the Williamsburg Bridge. The park is stretched by the East River in 5 acres of land. There are enough lawns and benches to spend time and keep your eyes on Manhattan Island. This waterfront spot is another best place to see the sunset in New York. You can see the sun going down over the Manhattan Skyline and Williamsburg bridge.

4. Brooklyn Bridge, Bridge Park and Pebble Beach:

Brooklyn bridge is another best place in New York for sunset. You can catch the views of both Manhattan and Brooklyn from the bridge, which makes the sunset more wonderful. Taking pictures with one of the best landmarks in the world during sunset is the best opportunity you can take to make your memories stronger. Besides, you can visit Brooklyn bridge park, pebble beach, pier 1 and old pier 1 also provide the best views of Manhattan skyline, East River and Brooklyn bridge together during sunset.

5. Little Island or Pier 57:

In the west side of Manhattan, you have the best places for the sunset. From battery park to west 59 street, the Hudson river park has hundreds of spots to watch the sunset with the view of Hudson river , Statue of Liberty and New Jersey city. You can visit any pier located in Hudson River Park to watch the sunset. Little Island and Pier 57 are two best places for visiting and watching the sunset. Little Island has lots of sitting spaces and natural settings to experience a peaceful sunset. On the other hand, Pier 57 has a rooftop park that is providing you free access to the park and get the 360° views of the city, Little Island, New Jersey city and Hudson River in sunset hours.

6. Roosevelt Island Tramway:

Another thrilling way of experiencing the Beauty of Sunset in NYC is riding Roosevelt Island Tramway. When you start your journey from the Manhattan side , you will be amazed with the panoramic views of Manhattan Skyline with a warm glow of setting sun over the city skyscrapers. When the tram crosses the East River, you will see the million dollar view of New York City sunset with the combined view of The East River, Queensborough bridge and the Cityscape. It will feel like you are floating above the river and the City. No matter if you are a photographer riding the tramway to capture a breathtaking view or a person enjoying a romantic sunset of New York City , the glassed cars of Roosevelt Tramway will give you the most amazing experience of sunset. Trams are running this way throughout the day, so you can plan your travel during sunset hours and secure your place on the Bridge side to make sure you get the best views of sunset.

With two prime locations “The Sunset Terrace” and “The Outlook Hill” the Governors Island is a true hidden gem in New York City for watching sunset. The island is totally free of cars, which gives the visitors a natural setting to enjoy the beautiful sunset over the water. As the sun begins to set, from Outlook Hill, top spot of Governors Island, you can experience the panoramic view of the NYC Skyline and the Liberty Lady with the transformation of the sky into a kaleidoscope of colors. As the ferry starts its journey from Lower Manhattan you can see the sun casting a warming glow over the Manhattan harbor. Secure your place on the outdoor deck of the ferry to capture the breathtaking view of the sunset. As the ferry passes Ellis Island and Liberty Island, you will see the sun going down behind the Liberty Lady and creating a truly magical atmosphere. Another prime location to see the New York city sunset is Hunter’s Point Park in Long Island City. The park gives you the opportunity to watch the Manhattan skyline with all of the iconic landmarks like Empire state building, Chrysler building and World trade center. When the sun starts going down slowly behind these iconic landmarks it becomes more attractive. There is also a cantilevered platform designed to experience the waterfront and the city skyline that is above 30 feet from the ground. When you are at the top it feels like floating over the city. You can watch the whole Manhattan island together including Downtown, midtown and Uptown. To capture the whole Manhattan in one click hunter’s point park is a must visit place for everyone. You will also have lots of sitting, walking and dining options available there to enjoy your stay with your friends and family.

10. Observation Decks:

New York City has five observation decks to watch the city from the top decks and these decks offer the visitor the best views of the Manhattan city skyline when the sun is going down over the horizon. To experience the city when it’s bathed with the warming golden lights of the setting sun, there is no better option than visiting these observation decks. Top of the rock and the Summit One Venderbilt has the bestest sunset views with the twinkling city’s lights. When you are in Summit it becomes more colorful because of having floor to ceiling mirrors and glass walls. The golden lights reflect on those glasses and make a mesmerising colorful display. You can see the sun going down very slowly behind the Empire state building very closely. Grabbing a glass of drink and enjoying the most amazing and breathtaking 360° views of the city is unforgettable in anyone’s life. Top of the rock also provides outstanding views of the city skyline in the evening. It has two outdoor decks to enjoy the sound of the wind and the lighting of the city that makes it more exciting.
